Legendary aspects are one of the most important mechanics in Diablo 4, as they play a crucial role in optimizing your endgame build. Many builds and play styles are only playable after you have found certain aspects.
How Do Legendary Aspects Work in Diablo 4?
In Diablo 4, every legendary item has a special property called aspect. These aspects can either work for all classes or only for specific classes (e.g. Barbarian).
The properties of a legendary aspect can completely change the basic mechanic of a skill. For example, the Druid skill Pulverize, which normally deals damage in a certain radius around your character, is transformed into a huge shockwave by a certain aspect.
Furthermore, each unique item in Diablo 4 also has a unique aspect, which can not be extracted.
How to find legendary aspects in Diablo 4?
Kodex of Power
Your Codex of Power is the easiest way to unlock your first legendary aspects in Diablo 4. Whenever you successfully complete a dungeon for the first time, you can unlock an certain aspect in your Codex of Power.
In your world map you can find all dungeons and which aspects they unlock. Dungeons in which you can still unlock an aspect can be recognized by the small golden crate symbol. If you move the mouse over the icon, you will also see which aspect it is.
Note: You can imprint legendary aspects on items as often as you like.
Legendary Items
There are a variety of aspects that you can not obtain through dungeons, but have to find on legendary items. The rarity of these aspects varies. It can therefore take a long time to find the exact aspect you are looking for. In addition, the aspect may have a low roll. For example, the Aspect of Control lets you deal 20 to 35 % more damage to Immobilized, Stunned, or Frozen enemies.
Note: If you don't see the possible range of an aspect roll, you have to activate the “Extended Tooltip Information” option in the Diablo 4 settings.
If you have found a new aspect on a legendary item, you can extract it at the Occultist NPC. The aspect will then be added to your Codex of Power and can be imprinted on new items as often as you like. If you find and extract the same aspect with a higher roll, it will replace the old version in your Codex of Power. That way, you can gradually build up a collection of better and better legendary aspects.
Each legendary aspect is assigned to a specific category. There are five categories in total: Offensive, Defensive, Resource, Utility and Mobility. Each item can only have aspects imprinted from its predefined categories.

Note on aspect bonuses on two-handed weapons and amulets:
In Diablo 4, legendary aspects receive a 100% bonus if they are imprinted on two-handed weapons and 50% on amulets. It therefore makes sense to imprint a particularly important aspect on two-handed weapons or amulets.

Aspect of Potent Exchange
Gain X Resolve when you Dodge an attack. Your Potency Skills consume X Resolve to deal X% increased damage.
Aspect of Falling Feathers
Moving with a Mobility Skill or Evade drops Spirit Feathers along behind you which each deal X Lightning damage on impact.
Unrelenting Aspect
Every X. consecutive Crushing Hand smashes an additional X times around you dealing X% of its Base damage per hit.
Reaper's Aspect
Enemies you Poison have X% Reduced Healing and your Eagle Skills gain X% increased Critical Strike Chance against them.
Aspect of Plains Power
Lucky Hit: Up to a X% chance to create a Mystic Circle for X seconds. Casting a Jaguar Skill in Mystic Circles empowers them to keep your Ferocity at Maximum and increase your damage by X% per stack while you remain within.
Aspect of Pestilence
Stinger spawns a Pestilent Swarm at its target location which deals X% of Stinger's Base damage per hit. Pestilent Swarms now last X% longer and spiral outwards.
Bristleback Aspect
When you Dodge or Block an attack you trigger a X% Thorns attack against the attacker.
Starving Ravager's Aspect
Ravager no longer has a duration and instead drains X Vigor every second until depleted. Effects which extend Ravager instead generate Vigor.
Insatiable Aspect
Kills extend the duration of your active Touch of Death swarms by X seconds. When a swarm is replaced early it bursts for X% of the damage it would have done.
Aspect of Infestation
Lucky Hit: Centipede Skills have up to a X% chance to spawn a Pestilent Swarm from the target which deals X Poison damage per hit. Pestilent Swarms now also deal X% of their Base damage as Poisoning damage over X seconds.
Aspect of Bristling Vengeance
Payback now echoes forward and additionally deals X% of your Thorns damage to enemies.
Aspect of Simple Reprisal
When you cast the 3rd attack of your Basic Skills you have a X% chance to unleash Payback.
Fell Soothsayer's Aspect
When you cast an Incarnate Skill enemies around you become Vulnerable for 5 seconds. Killing a Vulnerable enemy echoes X% of the killing blow's Base damage to another Nearby enemy.
Aspect of Recalling Feathers
Casting a Focus Skill recalls all Nearby Spirit Feathers which deal X Lightning damage to enemies along their way. If there are no Nearby Spirit Feathers, the cast instead spawns X randomly around you.
Aspect of Rallying Reversal
You have a X% chance to gain X Ferocity when you Crowd Control an enemy.
Tormentor's Aspect
Enemies who move while Poisoned by you additionally take X% of your Thorns damage per second.
Aspect of Redirected Force
Gain increased Critical Strike Damage equal to X% of your Block Chance. Blocking doubles this bonus for X seconds.
Ruthless Aspect
Your Critical Strike Chance with Jaguar Skills is increased against enemies by X% for each X% of their missing Life.
Rebounding Aspect
Quill Volley's feathers explode at their apex and return to where they were cast, dealing X% of their normal damage both times.
Aspect of Wild Claws
Rake manifests a Spirit Jaguar which also casts Rake at a random enemy, dealing X% Base damage.
Aspect of Unyielding Hits
Casting a Gorilla Skill adds X% of your Armor to all attacks for X seconds.
Aspect of Combined Strikes
Each different Basic Skill you cast increases all your damage by X% for X seconds.
Aspect of Deflection
While active, Counterattack reflects incoming Razor Wings back out again. Other Small Missiles are also deflected back at enemies and deal X% of Counterattack's Base damage on impact.
Aspect of Tenacity
You gain Resolve for each X Vigor you gain over 100.
Aspect of Interdiction
Gain X% Block Chance per Resolve stack.
Aspect of Layered Wards
Your Blocked Damage Reduction is increased by X% while you have a Barrier.
Aspect of Invigorating Will
Losing a stack of Resolve has a X% chance to Heal you for X% of your Maximum Life.
Raider's Aspect
Heal for X% Maximum Life when you Poison a Healthy enemy.
Aspect of Forest Power
Lucky Hit: Up to a X% chance to create a Mystic Circle for X seconds. Casting a Gorilla Skill in Mystic Circles empowers them to periodically grant you a Barrier for X% of your Maximum Life which increases your Armor by X% while active.
Aspect of Temporal Incisions
Casting Rushing Claw extends the durations of your active Incarnate Skill effects by X seconds, up to X seconds.
Bruiser's Aspect
Gain X% increased Armor and X Thorns per X% missing Maximum Life.
Aspect of Avoidance
Whenever an enemy hits you, your Dodge Chance against that enemy increases by X%. Successfully Dodging resets this bonus.
Aspect of Kinetic Suppression
Casting a Non-Basic Mobility Skill grants X Resolve and causes your next Concussive Stomp to strike in a circle around you.
Aspect of Endurance
Your Resolve has a X% chance to not be lost when you are hit for each stack of Ferocity you have.
Aspect of Reactive Armor
Gain X% Block Chance. Blocking an attack from a Close enemy has a X% chance to cast a free Concussive Stomp at them.
Aspect of Soil Power
Lucky Hit: Up to a X% chance to create a Mystic Circle for X seconds. Casting a Centipede Skill in Mystic Circles empowers them to periodically apply X Poisoning damage over X seconds to enemies within while extending any Crowd Controls affecting them.
Aspect of Turbulence
Soar casts Vortex at its landing location and deals X% increased damage.
Aspect of Binding Morass
Close enemies or those you deal indirect damage to are Slowed by X% for X seconds. You deal X% increased damage to Slowed enemies.
Aspect of Apprehension
Once an enemy is Slowed by at least X%, they also become Feared for X seconds. You deal X% increased damage to Feared enemies.
Duelist's Aspect
Maximum Ferocity increased by X.
Menacing Aspect
Scourge continuously affects enemies around you for X seconds.
Aspect of Sky Power
Lucky Hit: Up to a X% chance to create a Mystic Circle for X seconds. Casting a Eagle Skill in Mystic Circles empowers them to move with you and explode for X Lightning damage when you Evade.
Aspect of Fleet Wings
Razor Wings is now also an Incarnate Skill with: Passive: You are Unhindered. Active: You gain X% increased Movement Speed per active Razor Wing.
Aspect of Momentum
After you Evade, your next Core Skill dashes to your target and does X% increased damage.
Aspect of Haste
Every second while moving gain X% Bonus Movement Speed for X seconds, up to X%.
Aspect of Empowered Feathers
Lucky Hit: Eagle Skills have up to a X% chance to summon a Spirit Feather. You can collect Spirit Feathers to reduce your Mobility Skill Cooldowns by X seconds.
Aspect of Alacrity
Your Defensive Skills Cooldown X% faster while you are moving.
Aspect of Exhilaration
Lucky Hit: Hitting a Vulnerable enemy has up to a X% chance to reduce your Evade Cooldown by X seconds. Each stack of Ferocity you have increases this chance by X%.
Aspect of Charged Flash
After Charged Bolts hits enemies X times, your next X casts of Charged Bolts becomes waves that pierce and deal X% Critical Shock Damage.
Aspect of Elemental Constellation
Casting Pyromancy, Shock, and Frost Skills conjures a matching Elemental Dagger around you that pierces through enemies dealing X% damage after X seconds. The damage increases by X% per matching elemental skill you cast.
Aspect of Overheating
After channeling Incinerate for X seconds it deals X% Critical Fire damage per second for X seconds. Casting Incinerate refreshes and maintains this bonus.
Firestarter Aspect
When newly Burning an enemy, you deal an additional X Fire damage to them. This effect is treated as a Pyromancy Skill.
Aspect of Biting Cold
When you Freeze an enemy there is a X% chance they become Vulnerable for X seconds.
Aspect of Three Curses
Increase the Critical Strike Damage of Meteor and Fireball by X%. Double this bonus against Healthy targets.
Aspect of Piercing Static
Charged Bolts pierce, but deal X% less damage to targets hit after the first.
Aspect of Abundant Energy
Crackling Energy has a X% chance to deal X% increased damage and chain to an additional enemy.
Aspect of Frozen Memories
The Avalanche Key Passive now applies to X additional casts.
Aspect of the Frozen Tundra
While Deep Freeze is active, exploding Ice Spikes form in the area, dealing X Cold damage. Your Ice Spikes have a X% increased explosion radius.
Aspect of Control
You deal X% more damage to Immobilized, Stunned, or Frozen enemies.
Aspect of Piercing Cold
Ice Shards pierce X times, dealing X% less damage per subsequent enemy hit.

Deal X% increased damage while you have no Defensive Skills on your Action Bar.
Aspect of Overwhelming Currents
Unstable Currents has a X% chance to cast an additional Shock Skill.
Aspect of the Unbroken Tether
Chain Lightning has a X% chance to chain X additional times.
Aspect of Ancient Flame
While both bonuses from the Esu's Ferocity Key Passive are active, your Attack Speed is increased by X%.
Aspect of Engulfing Flames
You deal X% increased Burning damage to enemies for each second they remain Burning, up to X% after X seconds. Additionally, you deal X% increased Burning damage to enemies below 50% Life.
Aspect of Shattered Stars
Meteorites fall around Meteor, dealing X% of Meteor's damage on impact. Your Meteorites additionally Burn enemies they hit for X damage over X seconds.
Aspect of Shredding Blades
Ice Blades' chance to apply Vulnerable is increased by X% and the Vulnerable duration is increased by X seconds. You gain X% Vulnerable Damage.
Aspect of Splintering Energy
Critical Hits with Lightning Spear cause lightning to arc from it dealing X damage to its target and up to X other enemies. This damage is increased by your Critical Strike Damage Bonus.
Aspect of Armageddon
A hail of Meteorites falls during Inferno, dealing X Fire damage on impact. Your Meteorites Immobilize enemies for X seconds.
Lightning Rod Aspect
Chain Lightning has a X% chance to deal X% increased damage. This chance is doubled against Bosses or Crowd Controlled enemies and prefers them as targets.
Flamethrower's Aspect
Incinerate splits into X beams, each dealing X% of normal damage.
Aspect of Conflagration
While channeling Incinerate, your Burning damage is increased by X%. Enemies damaged by Incinerate explode, Burning all surrounding enemies for X over X seconds. Can only occur once every X seconds.
Aspect of Frozen Orbit
Frozen Orb explodes X additional times at its destination for X% of its damage.
Aspect of the Frozen Wake
While Ice Armor is active, you leave behind exploding Ice Spikes that deal X damage. Your Ice Spikes deal X% increased damage to Frozen enemies.
Battle Caster's Aspect
Lucky Hit: When your Conjuration Skills hit you have up to a X% chance to gain X Rank to your Conjuration skills for X seconds. This can stack up to X times.
Elementalist's Aspect
Core Skills cast at or above 100 Mana gain a X% increased Critical Strike Chance.
Jolting Aspect
Every X seconds, you zap a nearby enemy for X Lightning damage. This effect is treated as a Shock Skill.
Gravitational Aspect
Ball Lightning orbits around you and deals X% increased damage.
Stable Aspect
While Unstable Currents is not active, your Shock Skills have a X% chance to trigger a free cast from it.
Storm Swell Aspect
You deal X% increased damage while Ice Armor is active. This amount is increased by another X% against Frozen enemies.
Glacial Aspect
When you cast Blizzard it will periodically spawn exploding Ice Spikes that deal X damage. Your Ice Spikes Chill enemies for X%.
Winter Touch Aspect
When you Freeze an enemy, you deal X Cold damage to them. This effect is treated as a Frost Skill.
Shattered Aspect
Explosions from the Shatter Key Passive deal X% increased damage.
Serpentine Aspect
You may have X additional Hydra active, and Hydra's duration is increased by X%.

Aspect of the Firebird
Gain the Flame Shield Enchantment for free. When Flame Shield activates, Meteorites fall around you dealing X Fire damage.

Lucky Hit: Up to a X% chance to reduce the Cooldown of your Ultimate Skill by X seconds. Can only happen once per Skill cast.
Aspect of Tenuous Agility
Gain X% Movement Speed. This bonus is doubled if you haven't used a Defensive Skill in the last X seconds.
Aspect of the Bounding Conduit
Teleport's Cooldown is reduced by X seconds. After Teleporting, Crackling Energy hits X additional enemies for X seconds.
Flamewalker's Aspect
Coming in contact with your Firewall grants you X% Movement Speed for X seconds.
Charged Aspect
Collecting Crackling Energy increases your Movement Speed by X% for X seconds.
Aspect of Efficiency
Casting a Basic Skill reduces the Mana cost of your next Core or Mastery Skill by X%.
Aspect of Elemental Acuity
Casting a Pyromancy, Shock, or Frost Skill increases your Mana Regeneration by X% for X seconds, once per element. At maximum stacks, the total bonus is increased to X% for X seconds, but all stacks expire afterwards.
Recharging Aspect
Each time Chain Lightning bounces, gain X Mana.
Prodigy's Aspect
Using a Cooldown restores X Mana.
Incendiary Aspect
Lucky Hit: Damage from your Pyromancy Skills has up to a X% chance to restore X Mana.
Aspect of the Rabid Bear
While Grizzly Rage is active, Skills that Critically Strike apply Rabies and your Poison damage is increased by X%.
Stormcrow's Aspect
Ravens now deal Lightning damage which is increased by X%. Ravens Active deals its full damage in half the time, and enemies inside it are Stunned.
Aspect of Shattered Defenses
Stone Burst causes enemies to take X% increased damage from your other Skills for X seconds. Stone Burst's Spirit cost is reduced by X.
Aspect of Anticline Burst
Stone Burst deals X% increased damage and when Cast at or above X Spirit, it is immediately at its maximum size.
Aspect of Nature's Savagery
Werewolf Skills function as Storm Skills and Werebear Skills function as Earth Skills for the Nature's Fury Key Passive.
Aspect of Retaliation
Your Core Skills deal up to X% increased damage based on your amount of Fortify.
Aspect of the Changeling's Debt
You deal X% increased damage while hitting a Poisoned enemy as a Werebear or a Crowd Controlled enemy as a Werewolf.
Aspect of the Stampede
Gain 1 additional Companion. In addition, your Companion Skills deal X% bonus damage.
Aspect of the Rampaging Werebeast
The duration of Grizzly Rage is increased by X seconds. In addition, Critical Strikes while Grizzly Rage is active increase your Critical Strike Damage by X% for the duration, up to a maximum of X%.
Aspect of the Blurred Beast
While dashing, Shred seeks out Nearby Poisoned and deals X% increased damage to them.
Aspect of the Trampled Earth
Trample now summons X Landslide pillars of earth during its duration that deal X% normal damage. Trample is now also a Nature Magic and Earth Skill.
Aspect of the Alpha
Your Wolf Companions are now Werewolf Companions. Werewolf Companions deal X% additional damage and can spread Rabies.
Aspect of the Ursine Horror
Pulverize is now also an Earth Skill. After casting Pulverize, tectonic spikes continue to deal X damage over X seconds.
Aspect of Metamorphic Stone
Boulder is now a Core Skill and costs X Spirit to cast dealing X% of normal damage.
Aspect of The Aftershock
Landslide's earth pillars each strike a second time and deal an additional X% bonus damage per hit.
Aspect of Natural Balance
Casting a Storm Skill grants your Earth Skills X% Critical Strike Damage for X seconds. Casting a Earth Skill increases the Critical Strike Chance of Storm Skills by X% for X seconds.
Aspect of the Wildrage
Your Companions gain double the bonus from the Bestial Rampage Key Passive.
Aspect of the Tempest
Hurricane damage is increased by X% each second while active.
Lightning Dancer's Aspect
Lightning Storm Critical Strikes spawn X Dancing Bolts that seek enemies in the area dealing X Lightning damage.
Moonrage Aspect
Kills have a X% chance to summon a Wolf Companion to your side for X seconds. This effect is a Lucky Hit against bosses. Maximum X additional wolves. In addition, gain X Ranks to Wolves.
Nighthowler's Aspect
Blood Howl increases Critical Strike Chance by X%. In addition, Blood Howl also affects Nearby Players for X seconds.
Raw Might Aspect
After hitting X enemies with your Shapeshifting Skills, your next Werebear Skill will deal X% more damage and Stun enemies for X seconds.
Runeworker's Conduit Aspect
Critical Strikes with Storm Skills that you cast charge the air around you for X seconds causing a Lightning Bolt to periodically hit an enemy in the area for X Lightning damage. Your Lightning Bolts deal X% increased damage.
Shepherd's Aspect
Companion Skills deal an additional X% damage per Companion you have.
Seismic-shift Aspect
Earth Spike deals X% increased damage and launches spikes in a line.
Crashstone Aspect
Earth Skills deal X% more Critical Strike Damage to Crowd Controlled enemies.
Mighty Storm's Aspect
The Earthen Might Key Passive also applies to your Storm Skills.
Stormchaser's Aspect
Tornado will seek up to X targets.
Stormclaw's Aspect
Critical Strikes with Shred deal X% of the damage dealt as Lightning damage to the target and surrounding enemies.
Overcharged Aspect
Lucky Hit: Up to a X% chance when dealing Lightning damage to overload the target for X seconds, causing any direct damage you deal to them to pulse X additional damage to surrounding enemies.
Shockwave Aspect
Pulverize creates a shockwave that travels forward, dealing X% of its damage to targets in the path.
Subterranean Aspect
Poison Creeper's active also casts Landslide in a circle around you. Earth Skills deal X% increased damage to Poisoned enemies.
Dire Wolf's Aspect
Grizzly Rage is now a Werewolf Skill and Shapeshifts you into a Dire Werewolf. Dire Werewolves gain X% Movement Speed and X% Spirit Cost Reduction instead of Damage Reduction. In addition, kills Heal you for X% of your Maximum Life.
Aspect of Cyclonic Force
Cyclone Armor also provides Physical Damage Reduction. In addition, Cyclone Armor will also be applied to all Nearby Allies.
Aspect of Fevered Mauling
When you hit at least X enemy with Maul, increase its Attack Speed by X% and you gain X% Damage Reduction for X seconds, stacking up to X times.
Aspect of Mending Stone
The duration of Earthen Bulwark is increased by X seconds. In addition, killing an enemy replenishes X of your active Earthen Bulwark's Barrier.
Vigorous Aspect
Gain X% Damage Reduction while Shapeshifted into a Werewolf.
Earthguard Aspect
Gain X% bonus amount to your next Earthen Bulwark for each enemy you Crowd Control up to a maximum of X%.
Spirit Bond Aspect
X% of the damage you would take is redirected across your Companions. Your Companions cannot die.
Skinwalker's Aspect
When you use a Shapeshifting Skill that changes your form, Heal for X% of your Maximum Life. If you are at full Life, gain the same amount as Fortify.
Aspect of the Agile Wolf
Shred gains a 4th attack that hits all surrounding enemies, deals X% increased damage and Knocks Down enemies for X seconds.
Aspect of the Dark Howl
Debilitating Roar is now a Werewolf Skill. In addition, Debilitating Roar will Immobilize Poisoned enemies for X seconds.
Aspect of Quicksand
Damage from Earth Skills Slow enemies hit by X% for X seconds.
Ballistic Aspect
When you have Fortify your Earth Skills gain X Ranks.
Stormshifter's Aspect
While Hurricane is active, gain X Ranks to your Shapeshifting Skills.
Symbiotic Aspect
When the Nature's Fury Key Passive triggers a free Skill, your non-Ultimate Cooldowns of the opposite type are reduced by X seconds.
Virulent Aspect
When Rabies infects an enemy, reduce its Cooldown by X seconds. This Cooldown reduction is tripled when infecting Elite enemies.
Aspect of the Rushing Wilds
Casting a Companion Skill grants you X% Movement Speed for X seconds, up to X%.
Aspect of the Calm Breeze
Wind Shear now deals X Poisoning damage over X seconds. Lucky Hit: Wind Shear has up to a X% chance to fully restore your Spirit.
Aspect of the Unsatiated
After killing an enemy with Shred, you gain X Spirit. Your Werewolf Skills deal X% increased damage when cast above X Spirit.
Balanced Aspect
Increases your Maximum Spirit by X and Spirit Generation by X% while Grizzly Rage is active.
Rejuvenating Aspect
When falling below X Spirit, there is a X% chance to fully restore your Spirit.
Mangled Aspect
While in Werebear form, you gain X Spirit every X seconds.
Aspect of Poisonous Clouds
When entering Stealth, create a cloud that deals X% Poison damage over X seconds.
Aspect of Splintering Shards
